William Durham was a merchant who traded from Elbing in the 1650s. He had some dealings with the Swedish army in Prussia via his country man, Peter Forbes, senior Swedish military accountant at the time. In 1683 he presented a chalice to the local reformed comminity bearing the inscription "Gott zu Ehren verehrte Wilhelm Durham diesen Kelch der Elbingschen Reformierten Gemeinde. Anno 1683" (To the Glory of God, William Durham dedicated this chalice to the Elbing Reformed Community, Anno 1683.
