Thes Boij was the son of Anton Boij [SSNE 4771], and the grandson of Andrew Boij [SSNE 4344]. He was born in 1683 and attended Uppsala university in 1699 (his brother Anders [SSNE 4944] matriculated the year before). He travelled to London, Oxford and Leiden and obtained a degree in 1709. That year he became a medical doctor for the Swedish army. He was with the army in Skane, but settled in Stockholm thereafter. He died in 1739T. Fischer, The Scots in Sweden (Edinburgh, 1907), p.265.
