Text source
Thomas Bursie was a burgess of a Jönköping and in 1675 he represented the town at the Riksdag in Uppsala. As part of this function he served on a committee sent to king Karl XI and another committee sent to the Riksrad (state council). He also served on the committee which was deputed to meet with the three other estates to discuss their response to the king's Propositions. Thomas continued to be a councillor in Jönköping in the 1680s. Currently uncertain of Thomas' parentage. Either he was a son of Peter Bursie [SSNE 5060] and died in 1684. If he was born in 1645 in Jönköping, probably the son of Hans Peterson Bursie [SSNE 5059]. He probably married Karin Jönsdotter Hans's sister, Margaretha Bursie [SSNE 6259], also had a son called Tomas[SSNE 4352].Swedish Riksarkiv, Föreckning över Landshövdingens i Jönköpings Län Skrivelser till Kung.
