Maria Maren Lisbet Jack was the daughter of Hans Jack [SSNE 1111] and Katrine Meieren. She was born in Denmark c.1647 and had, as her guardian, the Dundonian David Melvin [SSNE 1159], a burgess of Elsinore and Anna Juliana who died as a child. Jack became a surgeon and later, in May 1651 when the estate was assessed, could give nothing to his children, but promised them a share in his own maternal inheritance. Jack and his family lived at his mother's house. After some service for the Duke of Courland, her father returned to Elsinore where he died, leaving a widow and Maria the net assets of the estate worth 30 daler.
