William Hume was first in James Seaton's [SSNE 3476] recruited regiment in 1630, then in Donald Mackay's [SSNE 93]. Possibly the same as lieutenant William Hume listed as reformed by 1633. He was a reformed lieutenant with James Seaton's recruited regiment in 1631. Then he was a reformed lieutenant with George Cunningham's [SSNE 2118] regiment. In 1632 he became a reformed ensign. He was then in Robert Cunningham's [SSNE 2132] regiment. These are all possibly the same as William Hume listed as lieutenant in Sir Patrick Cockburn's [SSNE 127] company in Danish-Norwegian service. He was taken prisoner at Wolgast 1628 but was ransomed. Probably transferred to John Lindsay's company; he received his reckoning (for his service under Cockburn) by 6/10/1628. He asked for a month's stipend to allow him to buy himself warm clothes for the winter. A veteran of this name with continental service went on to join the Army of the Solemn League and Covenant in 1644 as lieutenant colonel in the East Lothian Foot
