James Stewart, who was the son of Alexander Stewart of Colpnay, Aberdeenshire, emigrated to Danzig during the seventeenth century. In 1705 he and his sister Margaret requested birthbrieves from Aberdeen council to prove their descent from the Stewarts of Colpnay.
