Johan Hammond was probably one of the several sons of Thomas Hammond of Trondheim. In October 1695, Johan Hammond entered into a dispute with the magistrate of Trondheim for not paying him his share of his father's inheritance. Like his brothers, Edward and Thomas, a main source of his irritation lay in the person of Peder Paulsen. The magistrates of the city were asked to appoint two commissioners to settle the dispute both in August 1695 and September 1696. On 14 December 1701, Johan Hammond became a merchant burgess of Trondheim.R.
