WELCH, WILLIAM [SSNE 530]
Text source
William Welch served as a surgeon in Colonel Donald Mackay's [SSNE 93] regiment in Danish-Norwegian service from 1628-1629. He transferred to Sweden where he died in action. About 1633 his widow, Margaret Lindsay (a daughter of the Earl of Crawford), reminded Charles I that Mackay still owed Welch £272 for his service plus £20 for the outfitting of his box of remedies.
