Giert Gordon was the grandson of Alexander Gordon who came from Brusst or Banff in Scotland and moved to Bergen in Norway c.1630. He was made a burgess cooper on 16 February 1631. He married Elizabeth Vernton, possibly a daughter of Gilbert Wentoun, and with her had three children, Gilbert, Alexander and Lisbeth. Alexander in turn married Lenke Farmau who was buried with kind help from the community in April 1746. He was also created a burgess on 21 December 1693. Together they had two children, Gurd/Giert and Elizabeth. Giert moved to Amsterdam and died there in 1753. Elizabeth died the same year unmarried in Bergen.
