David Ross was the son of Alexander Ross of Invercharron (Easter Ross). David was an officer in the Danish-Norwegian army in Colonel Donald Mackay's [SSNE 93] regiment in 1627. Confer [SSNE 525]. Sir Robert Gordon reported that David was made lieutenant in John Monro of Obsdale’s [SSNE 178] regiment.
