YOUNG, HANS [SSNE 4795]
Text source
In Stockholm in 1570 a man named firstly Hans Thomas Jungh(Young), then just Thomas in the same document, was noted as a Scotsman. He had apparently been imprisoned over some wrong-doing which involved Margareta, the widow of Philpus the goldsmith. Another Scotsman, John Jamieson [SSNE 7361] appeared before the Stockholm magistrates on 13 October 1570 to request that he not be separated from Margareta whom he claimed to be his wife. He was aware that Hans Thomas Young was courting her with a view to marriage. The Stockholm magistrates decided that neither man should have anything further to do with Margareta until the consistory court could resolve the matter. Further Margareta was summoned to appear at the next sitting of the magistrates court.
