Charles Ramsay (1652-1730) was the son of a man of the same name [SSNE 4282] who came from Elbing and was the grandson of a Scottish migrant. Like his father before him, he devoted his life the study of his home town and published several works on the subject. He also became an important burgess of the town. It was possibly he who, as Carol Ramsay, matriculated in Konigsberg in 1670. He was probably pasrt of the Scottish protestant community who presented a silver salver to the Elbing Reformed Community in 1692 inscribed "Von der Bruderschaft Schottischer Nation der Reformierten Gemeinde in Elbing verehret Anno 1692. H.B.B.D.H.S.G.S.H.W.W.B.D.K.G.H."
