Archibald Douglas commanded a company of Scottish foot in Colonel Donald Mackay's [SSNE 93] regiment in Danish-Norwegian service garrisoned at Gluckstadt. On 24 December 1627 he presented a receipt of 120 rixdollars. He then transferred to Sweden as many surviving Scottish officer of Danish-Norwegian service did at the time. He died at Frankfurt an der Oder in 1631, probably of the plague. Confer [SSNE 83]. It was probably this man who was designated as Lieutenant General of the Artillery to the Marquis of Hamilton's army in November 1631. Douglas had written to Hamilton in May 1631 to discuss the supply or armaments.
