D. Fedosov, The Caledonian Connection (Aberdeen, 1996); He was a colonel. From 1701 he commanded the infantry regiment which bore his name (later the Viborg regiment). In 1704 he was active in the capture and fortification of Narva. In 1705-6 he commanded a garrison at Ivangorod. He corresponded with his half-brothers, the Bruces.
