Text source
Hans Strang was the son of John Strang [SSNE 1735] and his wife Karin Andersdotter Bagge. He had at least two sisters, named Karin and Magdalena, and at least two brothers named Albert and William. One source says Hans Strang never married; another says he married around 1620 and had a son named Hercules.
Hans Strang followed in his father's footsteps and became a cavalry man in Swedish service. He first served as a lieutenant with Patrick Ruthven's [SSNE 3413] Kalmar regiment in 1627, as part of Frans Ruthven's [SSNE 3404] company. By 1630 Hans Strang was serving as lieutenant in the Kronoberg regiment. In the 1631 muster roll for Bengt Slatte's regiment Hans Strang was listed as "förare".
In 1634 Hans Strang was promoted to captain. Strang died at the battle of Wittstock in Germany in 1637.
