John Savage served as a fanrik with James Spens' recruited infantry regiment in 1630. In 1631 he was a reformed fanrik with James Lumsden's regiment but was reformed with Robert Leslie's. In 1632 he became a reformed fanrik with George Fleetwood's regiment.
