William Moore served as an ensign in the Swedish army from 1632. He served in William Bellenden's Regiment. Part of this regiment participated at the battle of Lutzen in 1632 under the command of Ludovick Leslie. William Moore was the brother of quartermaster general Robert More [SSNE 1205], who also served in the Swedish army. That being the case he was the son of John More of Perth. This information is taken from Patrick More's birthbrieve granted in April 1663.Stockholm Krigsarkivet, Muster Roll, 1632/30; See also Rikskansleren Axel Oxenstiernas skrifter och brefvexling (1908); Register of the Privy Council of Scotland, 3rd series, I, 1661-1664, p.355.
