Edward Maxwell was a lieutenant in James Seaton's regiment 1630. He was in George Cunningham's regiment in 1631. He was in Robert Cunningham's regiment in 1632. Possibly the same as capain Edward Maxwell in Danish service in 1627, who recruited mercenaries for Danish service under Nithsdale in 1627Stockholm Krigsarkivet, Muster Roll, 1630/23-26,28-32; 1631/12-21; 1632/10-21; T. Riis, Should Auld Acquaintance Be Forgot (Odense, 1988) p.134; Register of the Privy Council of Scotland, 2nd Series II, pp.462-3.
