Alexander Lindsay was the son of Sir John Lindsay of Ballinscho and Woodwray and Katherine, daughter of John Lindsay of Balcarres. He was born circa 1606 and was the brother of John [SSNE 583]and Harrie [SSNE 220]. He entered service c.1630 and was killed at Bavier (probably Bavaria?) before 1637. He was either a lieutenant colonel or a colonel. However, in 1649, William Lindsay (possibly a cousin?) wrote to Prince Karl Gustav regarding his outstanding wages. .
