Andrew Hamilton is listed as a captain in Danish service in 1676, who came from Norway on Gyldenlove's recommendation. He had served in Holland, and was sent to the Danish section of the navy. In 1678, he was chief of the frigate Gluckstadt, and later for the warship Churprintzen. In 1679 he was on the 'Spraglede Flak', and later he sought dismissal as he had inherited land and returned to Scotland. In 1684 he again entered service as a captain on Churprintzen. He later sailed to America, and is known to have been in the East and West Indies. In 1687 he sought lieutenant captainship of the ship 'Hechten'.T.
