John Macrief was a Scottish officer in the Danish-Norwegian army. He was a captain in colonel Donald Mackay's [SSNE 93] regiment in 1628. He subsequently entered Swedish service, during which he was killed in action at Neu Brandenburg 1630.G. Lind, Danish Data Archive 1573; T.
