Text sourceAlexander Finlayson appears to have served in Sweden from 1638 until 1650. He started as an ensign in Robert Stuart's [SSNE 529] regiment and then sought promotion to lieutenant in Herbert Gladstone's [SSNE 2490] regiment in 1647. It is not clear if the promotion was made, but in 1650 he sought permission to leave Sweden to try his fortune elsewhere.
