LESLIE, GEORGE [SSNE 217]
Text source
George Leslie was a Scottish officer in the Danish-Norwegian army. He was first a captain in Nithsdale's [SSNE 531] and then in James Sinclair's [SSNE 538] regiment. He was also a Muster master in the Danish-Norwegian army in 1628. He received his reckoning by 18/10/1628. He may possibly be the same man as an unspecified 'Captain Leslie' who with an unspecified 'Captain Lindsay' had been recruited and even paid some Highland men for service in King Christian IV of Denmark-Norway's service, but who by June 1627 had absconded. King Charles I and his Privy Council decreed that they had to return to the aforementioned captains and complete the military service they had been signed up for, on pain of death.
