BONER, WILLIAM [SSNE 1833]

William Boner was an officer in Swedish service. He served as an ensign in Kasper Ermes' recruited infantry regiment in 1637. He may be related to his namesake [SSNE 4749], possibly his cousin.
A Lt. Colonel Bonar (which cannot have been his namesake who was still in Germany at a higher rank) served in the Army of the Solemn League and Covenant and is listed among those as having 'served abroad with credit'. He was eventually killed in the assault on Dundee in 1651.
