Francis Blades was an officer, probably English, in Swedish service from 1630-1637. He served first as an ensign in James Spens'[SSNE 1642] regiment, then in George Crawford's[SSNE 2086] regiment. He was a reformed ensign in George Fleetwood's [SSNE 2208] company and then his regiment, and finally in George Fleetwood's recruited infantry regiment.
