Andrew Jack came from Dundee and settled in Denmark. He was married to Elsebet (Lisbet) Waddel [SSNE 8138] and is recorder as paying taxes worth 4th fjerding in 1657 and 1667. He may be the same as the Anders Jack noted as exporting goods from Gothenburg to Wismar in 1660. Jack exported flax and hemp to Gothenburg on 6 December 1679, and died in that city in May 1680. He was buried in St Gertrud's churchyard and is noted as having adopted the Lutheran faith. Jack had for many years been a burgess of Elsinore and this episode of Danish-Swedish trade is of interest given the relations between the countries at this juncture. This is probably the same as Andres Jack, noted as a Scottish merchant from Elsinor, whose burial was recorded in the Christina churchbook in Gothenburg, on 2 July 1680. He was noted as having adopted the Lutheran religion and as having died at the age of 78. After his death, his estate's debts exceeded the assets by 74 daler 1-1. Apparently he survived his wife, as his only heir was his sister Margaret of Dundee, represented by her son Robert Bower. The latter was ordered on 6/8/1680 to pay Jack's debts before he could collect his movables.
