John Barclay de Tolly served in the Scottish colonel, Andrew Spang's regiment in Norway (formed from Bildt's T√łnsberg regiment) from 13 June until 8 August 1644. He then appears as a captain in the Akershusiske Infantry regiment from September 1644 until 14 September 1645. In December 1645, Barclay asked Hannibal Sehested if he could remain in service while his wife and children arrived from Britain. This was agreed to.
