Principal Professor Sally Mapstone and Dr Fiona Hill in conversation at the National Liberal Club in London |
Alumni and supporter events in New York and LondonAfter a gap of two years, the Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sally Mapstone FRSE, was back on the road meeting with alumni and supporters in New York and, more recently, in London, where she hosted a conversation and a question and answer session with esteemed alumna, Dr Fiona Hill (MA Russian and Modern History, 1989). Dr Hill is one of the world's experts on foreign affairs, and this opportunity could not have been more timely as the west works through a significant rupture in the established international order. |

Alumni storiesWe welcome stories from alumni about your time here, your journey since leaving and what the University of St Andrews has contributed to that journey.
It is one hundred years this May since JM Barrie gave his legendary address – ‘Courage’ – at his installation as Rector. This month’s contribution from Steven Thompson (PhD 1976) describes the impact that the address had on him while he was studying for his PhD at St Andrews. We felt it was appropriate to publish his story in the same month as another historic event - the installation of Dr Leyla Hussein OBE as the University’s first female Black Rector.
Email the editor sem28@st-andrews.ac.uk if you would like to share your story. |
