October 2015: Undergraduate Awards Scheme 2015 awardeds to Eilidh Johnston

We are delighted to know that Eilidh Johnston has won the top prize in the "Highly Commended" rating for the Undergraduate Awards Scheme that is run from Dublin. Eilidh worked during her Msc in a collaboration between Dr di Falco's and our group to explore new methods to fabricate 3D metamaterials using DNA to space microscopic components apart. Metamaterials have many possible applications due to their engineerable optical and mechanical properties. Fabricating such materials remains a challenge, and Eilidh's work explored one way in which this may be done. Eilidh also benefitted from input from Dr Kay (Chemistry).
