The main area of my research is metaphysics and natural philosophy in the ancient Greek world, especially with the Presocratics, Plato and Aristotle. I have written a book on Natural Philosophy in the Ancient Greek world (Natural Philosophy in Ancient Greece - Logical, Methodological, and Mathematical Foundations for the Theory of Motion). I am currently working on two new book projects, one on the Development of Spatial Notions in early Greek thought up to Aristotle, and one on Ancient Notions of Time that connects ancient understandings of time with contemporary debates. I have also started work on a monograph on all of Zeno’s paradoxes handed down to us.

I began studying German literature, mathematics and philosophy at the University of Vienna, and got my doctorate from the FU-Berlin - spending time also at the University of St. Andrews and Oxford. My first job was in the friendly atmosphere of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, before I accepted a tenure track position at Yale University, and now joined the philosophy department in St. Andrews.
