TUSLIP   Bus

We plan to book buses to help get some visitors to the event.  There will be no charge to pupils or schools for this transport, as the cost is covered by the Institute of Physics in Scotland and the universities.  The schedules below were for a previous year; we hope to have similar arrangements for 2011, and will confirm with anyone booking.

Angus, Dundee (and Perth pupils from Dundee station)

The bus is likely to pick up as follows:-

  • 08.25 Montrose (Montrose Academy bus parking area)
  • 08.45 Arbroath (Safeways Store)
  • 09.05 Forfar (Myre Car Park)
  • 09.25 Dundee (Seagate, opposite the bus station, North side)

The bus will then take the same visitors back, dropping off in the reverse order, leaving St Andrews at ~3.25, immediately after the end of the Day of Physics. The bus is booked from Fisher Tours, and we have asked the company  to put a notice on the bus stating TUSLIP.  The company has been asked to provide transport conforming to the regulations for transporting school students, and is one recommended by an advisor in both Dundee and Angus.

Teachers are asked, where appropriate, to book seats on the bus while booking places on the day.  It is possible that there will not be enough room to accommodate all those wishing to use the bus; bookings will be taken on a first-come first-served basis.   Please would any visitor booked on the bus therefore ensure that they reach the pick up location by the correct time.  The bus driver has been asked to move on from each pick-up point at the stated time, and NOT to wait for latecomers.

Fife

The bus pick ups will depend on which schools book in, but in a previous year was as follows:-

  • Dunfermline bus station at 08.45
  • Beat High School at 08.55
  • Kirkcaldy - St Andrews High School  at 09.10
  • Auchmuty High School at 09.25
  • Bell Baxter Coach Park at 09.45 (some in bus, some in taxi likely)
