Wavelength and Frequency Separations

 

You know how the frequency (f), wavelength (l), and velocity (v) of waves are related, v = f l.

 

Note that the same relation cannot be used with just f going to change in f and l going to change in l. Put some numbers in to check, try a wave of frequency 1000 Hz, wavelength 1 m, and corresponding velocity of 1000 m/s. Try another at 1001 Hz, and the same velocity.

 

What can be done is to use a bit of calculus to find df/dl .......
