Module description

This module presents the history of thought in social anthropology. It does so in order to understand how texts and theoretical perspectives through time form the basis of ongoing conversations and debates in the discipline. It introduces students to the key schools of thought that have shaped anthropological enquiry, and the historic contexts that informed those schools of thought. It then considers the contemporary relevance of this history, exploring the continuing life of social theory and how perspectives are called into question.
