The Scottish Credit Accumulation and Transfer (SCOTCAT) system allows credits gained in Scotland to be transferred between institutions. The number of credits associated with a module gives an indication of the amount of learning effort required by the learner. European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) credits are half the value of SCOTCAT credits.

Module description

This module is the normal entry point which leads to Honours Italian for beginners in Italian. It is designed for students with no prior experience of Italian and does not assume any knowledge of the language. The course is intensive and proceeds quickly. It concentrates on grammar and usage through reading, writing, listening and speaking. Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) materials are also used to supplement classes and assessments. It also introduces students to aspects of Italian culture and history. Please note that this module is not designed for students with an advanced knowledge of Italian

STUDENT SHOULD NOT HAVE A PASS AT HIGHER, A-LEVEL OR EQUIVALENT IN ITALIAN OR HAVE AN ADVANCED KNOWLEDGE OF ITALIAN.
