Module description
This module provides a general overview of international security affairs using a variety of conceptual perspectives, ranging from orthodox realist and liberal approaches to more recent critical theories. On the one hand, it will cover traditional issues of security studies such as the offence-defence balance, alliance formation, or collective security. On the other hand, it will introduce students to the 'new security agenda' involving issues such as societal security, environment, public health, and related problems.
