SCOTCAT credits


The Scottish Credit Accumulation and Transfer (SCOTCAT) system allows credits gained in Scotland to be transferred between institutions. The number of credits associated with a module gives an indication of the amount of learning effort required by the learner. European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) credits are half the value of SCOTCAT credits.

Module description

Psychology is the study of the mind, brain and human behaviour. This module gives a brief overview of different approaches to psychology. It is an introduction to those interested in studying psychology but it can also be taken by those who may not be studying psychology in the future since references to psychology are prevalent, it is useful for general studies. The module covers the many different ways in which mind and behaviour can be studied. Typically, it will examine social psychology through the results of experimental, ethological, and observational research, abnormal psychology and approaches to treatment, child development, experimental cognitive psychology, visual perception and evolutionary psychology.
