Module description
The module offers students a wide-ranging introduction to the varied and stimulating literature of the 1790s. It will also present students with an opportunity to read some of the best modern criticism of literature of the Romantic period. By the end of the module, students will be able to demonstrate a broadly based knowledge of the literature of the 1790s and some relevant later texts, and will be able to present an informed discussion of this literature in the light of contextual evidence such as social, political, and wider historical developments.
