Module description

This module situates and interrogates the discipline of Comparative Literature and explores a range of major theories and practices common in the field. Key areas will typically be drawn from the history of Comparative Literature as a discipline and includes theoretical and critical approaches such as world literature, translation studies, Marxian criticism, psychoanalytic theory, and post/de-colonial thought. Students will be encouraged to engage with the history of Comparative Literature as a discipline and to formulate their own disciplinary definitions and approaches.
