The Scottish Credit Accumulation and Transfer (SCOTCAT) system allows credits gained in Scotland to be transferred between institutions. The number of credits associated with a module gives an indication of the amount of learning effort required by the learner. Module description

This module will build upon the skills gained in CN3002. Emphasis will be placed translation into and out of Chinese and free composition. Students will also give oral presentations on academic topics in Chinese. A variety of modern and contemporary texts will be used to broaden students' knowledge of the language.

  • The student will recognize and use 2,900-3,300 characters and comprehend academic texts
  • The student will be able to write commentaries and short essays in Chinese
  • The student will be able to derive information from Chinese sources and communicate such information to native-speakers in writing and speech
