Healthcare surcharge

The immigration healthcare surcharge is a fee international students must pay if they are coming to the UK for more than six months. The fee contributes directly to the National Health Service (NHS) and gives migrants the same access to the NHS as UK citizens.

The surcharge is not a visa fee, but you have to pay it as part of your online visa application. You will be charged for the duration of visa that will be granted.  See the webpage for up to date information on how much you have to pay. You can also calculate how much you’ll have to pay before you apply.

Refunds are only applicable in certain circumstances. Please see the Refund section for further information.
