The University of Jordan Postgraduate Scholarship provides an exciting opportunity for Jordanian citizens sponsored by the University of Jordan to pursue advanced studies at the University of St Andrews

Designed to strengthen academic links and support talented students, the scholarship offers tuition fee funding, a stipend, and research costs of up to £5,000 for prospective postgraduate applicants. Applicants are also eligible to receive additional financial support for Health care costs and visa fees.

Applications from a diverse array of fields are welcome. Applicants in fields connected to the Institute for Behavioural and Neural Sciences (IBANS), such as Psychology and Neuroscience, Physics and Astronomy, Medicine, Biology, Chemistry, and Business, are particularly welcome. All successful applicants matriculating at the University of St Andrews will receive complimentary membership in IBANS.

 

Value of award (per year)

Each award will encompass full tuition fees, an annual stipend (for 2025-26, the stipend rate was £20,780) and research expenses up to £5,000. 

Duration of award

Up to one year for a MSc or MRes programme, up to two years for a MPhil programme (postgraduate taught or postgraduate research programmes excluding Certificate or Diploma programmes) and up to four years for a PhD programme.

At what stage of my course application can I apply for this scholarship?

Applicants should apply to the University of Jordan in the first instance, then, if successful, applicants should subsequently apply to postgraduate programmes at the University of St Andrews.

You do not need to submit a separate application for this scholarship. Eligible applicants who have successfully applied to the University of Jordan should apply online to the University of St Andrews through the standard University application process for their chosen course.

Terms and conditions

  • Applicants must be sponsored by the University of Jordan to be considered for this funding
  • Applicants are responsible for seeking approval from the University of Jordan before applying to the University of St Andrews. 
  • Any terms set by the University of Jordan must be met, subject to compatibility with St Andrews polices and procedures. 
  • Applicants must meet St Andrews admissions requirements and once enrolled, fulfil degree progression requirements.
  • If successful, the awardees may be required to submit annual progression reports to the University of Jordan.
