Wardlaw Scholarships

Applicants to the St Andrews Access Award or the St Andrews International Undergraduate Scholarships, who would be keen to be considered for support funded by the University's alumni and friends, may also have their application assessed against the various criteria of the funds in the Wardlaw Scholarships portfolio.

Established in 2004 to provide support to entrant undergraduate students, the Wardlaw Scholarships scheme provides a range of awards, with values ranging from £500 to £10,000 per year. Most are awarded for a student's course duration.  Some Wardlaw Scholarships have specific eligibility criteria, usually relating to the subject of study or where the student comes from, although additional criteria may also apply.

Below is a list of the Wardlaw Scholarships that are open for 2026 entry, with the geographical and subject eligibility. There may be additional eligibility criteria for the scholarships, please check the individual scholarship webpages for full details.

Unless stated otherwise, you will be directed to the St Andrews Access Award application for these scholarships, as you only need to make one application in My Application to the St Andrews Access Award in order to be considered for any Wardlaw for which you are eligible. A few exceptions apply to Wardlaw Scholarships with International geographical criteria, which are awarded as part of the International Undergraduate Scholarships application cycle.
