The University of St Andrews is pleased to offer five new scholarships co-funded by St Leonard's Postgraduate College and Santander through the Santander Universities programme. Santander Universities provides support for scholarships, mobility grants, special projects and non-academic achievement awards as a means to contribute to the development and prosperity of society. These scholarships are open to students who undertook their undergraduate course through a widening participation scheme (e.g. Sutton trust) or undertook undergraduate study at St Andrews on a financial needs-based scholarship, and want to continue to a postgraduate degree.

The Santander - St Leonard's Masters Scholarship welcomes applications from prospective students from the UK applying for a postgraduate taught Masters degree (MSc, MLitt, MRes) who meet one of the following conditions:

• Attended the University of St Andrews for undergraduate degree and received a financial needs-based scholarship or attended a widening participation scheme (e.g. Sutton Trust).
• Attended another University for undergraduate degree and participated in a widening participation scheme (e.g. Sutton Trust).

  Selection is on the basis of financial need and academic merit. Not available to distance learning applicants

  Applicants must meet the standard entry requirements for taught Masters degree programmes.

  Applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • been part of a widening access initiative at the University of St Andrews (such as a Sutton Trust Summer School).
  • been awarded a University of St Andrews financial needs-based scholarship to support their undergraduate studies.
  • attended another university for their undergraduate study and participated in a widening access scheme.

  Postgraduate Taught Applicants

  • If you have applied to a Postgraduate Taught course beginning in the 2021-2022 academic year, you can access Scholarships and Funding through My Application. You should wait until the next working day after submission before attempting to access My Application using the log in details created when submitting your course application.
  • If you are a current student at St Andrews, you can access Scholarships and Funding through MySaint. However, you should wait until after you have applied for your intended postgraduate programme before doing so, to ensure that the scholarship application is linked to that course.

  At what stage of my course application can I apply for this scholarship?

  Please apply for the scholarship after you have submitted your application for a place at St Andrews.  You do not need to wait until you have received an offer of a place before applying for the scholarship.

  The outcome of your scholarship application will be available on "View my applications" in the Scholarships and Funding section of My Application late April/early May 2021
