Young carers

The University of St Andrews wants all students to reach their full academic potential, but recognise that being a carer can present potential barriers to study. The University offers a range of support to help young carers overcome these barriers.

What is a young carer?

A young carer is someone under 18 who helps look after someone in their family, or a friend, who is ill, disabled or misuses drugs or alcohol.

Young carers may find further information relevant to them on the Carers Trust website.
