Anita Lo

Counsellor/Support Adviser

Anita started her career teaching Chemistry and Science at Secondary Schools in Bristol and London.  She later moved onto Higher Education where she helped set up and develop a service for Students with Disabilities at the University of Salford. Anita worked at Salford as a Disability and Equalities Co-ordinator for a number of years before moving up to Scotland where she juggled working as a freelance DSA Needs Assessor with looking after two children, a dog, two cats and a number of small rodents and reptiles.

Her years of teaching and working with students with disabilities fostered an interest in mental health issues and after gaining her Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling from the University of Abertay, Anita worked for a while in the voluntary sector before joining St Andrews in 2014 where she helped develop and deliver workshops on Procrastination and Culture Awareness.

Anita now works alongside the Counselling and Support Advising team and as both a Support Adviser and Counsellor she is committed to a collaborative, integrated approach, treating each student as an individual to enable them to find solutions to their problems, build resilience and realise their potential.
