Director of Student Services
As Director of Student Services, Ailsa Ritchie is one of the key operational managers of "The Student Experience" within the university, also representing Senior Management to student front-facing services of support and advising. In this capacity she heads up the teams offering advice on matters of Disability, Academic Advising, Student Finance, International and Immigration, Counselling and wellbeing and Student Development. She carries responsibility for the first stop shop for all student information known as the ASC and for Emergency Out of Hours response. She manages those dealing with Student Discipline and strategically manages the Residential wardennial teams for the 3,600 students in halls of residence
Ailsa has worked in Student Services since 1995 at various Universities specialising in the areas of Disability support, Student Finance and Immigration. She joined the University of St Andrews in 2000 as Assistant Hebdomadar - a title no longer used - and since then has held various management roles in Student Support Services and now Student Services.
Ailsa has a broad range of experience in supporting students in all matters and is well versed in University procedures and practices. Prior to working in Student Services, Ailsa worked for various financial institutions in asset management and investment. She then worked as a lecturer at Napier University for some time before moving into the field of Student Services.
She is committed to providing the best student experience for a student, believing passionately that the potential to participate in all of student life is important for all students regardless of their personal situation.
