UniPrint UserGuide

Connecting to Uniprint

Windows

Open a web browser and navigate to APPS Anywhere. Search for Uniprint and Select 'download'. Select 'Run'.

Enter your username e.g. xxx@st-andrews.ac.uk and password. Ensure remember me is ticked and click 'OK' This is now added to your device.

OSx

Open a web browser and navigate to APPS Anywhere. Search for Uniprint and select 'install'.

Click the apple logo in the top left corner. Select 'System Preferences', 'Print & Scan' to open 'Printers & Scanners window' 

Click 'Options and Supplies' and 'Options'. Check 'Duplex Unit' Select 'Accessory Output Bins: HP Stapler/Stacker' Select 'Accessory Output Mode: Stacker Mode' and click 'OK'

UBUNTU

N.B. Ubuntu is not a supported OS for UNIPRINT, however we have put together a quick guide on how to install an UNIPRINT connection using Ubuntu to use at your discretion.

NOTE: Ensure the version of Ubuntu that is installed is the same as or newer than 16.04.1 Please also ensure that all software updates have been run and Ubuntu is up-to-date before continuing

  • Open SYSTEM SETTINGS
  • Open PRINTERS
  • Click ADD to add a new printer connection
  • From available options, click NETWORK PRINTER then highlight WINDOWS PRINTER VIA SAMBA

NOTE: If WINDOWS PRINTER VIA SAMBA is not available from list, this means that SAMBA is not installed. To install SAMBA follow instructions below:

  1. Close NEW PRINTER and then PRINTING windows
  2. Open a terminal window then run command sudo apt-get install smbclient. If prompted enter in required password
  3. Samba install process will start
  4. Once installed, close terminal window
  5. Open PRINTING/PRINTERS window again and repeat instructions above
  • Within the SMB Printer dialogue box enter the following:

st-andrews/uniprint.st-andrews.ac.uk/queue

  • Under the AUTHENTICATION section select SET AUTHENTICATION DETAILS NOW
  • Within the USERNAME and PASSWORD dialogue boxes enter the following:

USERNAME = st-andrews domain login details e.g. abc1@st-andrews.ac.uk

PASSWORD = password for above account

  • Click VERIFY

  • Ensure that “This print share is accessible” message is displayed. If not please check above steps to ensure that correct information has been entered
  • Click OK
  • Click FORWARD
  • Searching for drivers window will appear
  • From the CHOOSE DRIVER window choose SELECT PRINTER FROM DATABASE and highlight GENERIC (RECOMMENDED)
  • Click FORWARD
  • From Models list highlight POSTSCRIPT then highlight GENERIC POSTSCRIPT PRINTER FOOMATIC/POSTSCRIPT [EN] (RECOMMENDED)
  • Click FORWARD
  • Under PRINTER NAME, DESCRIPTION and LOCATION enter UNIPRINT-HP
  • Click APPLY
  • Click PRINT TEST PAGE
  • Click OK
  • Click OK to close Printer Properties window
  • Close open windows
  • If you log into a UNIPRINT device there will be a print listed called Remote Downlevel Document – this will be the Ubuntu test page
  • Installation now complete
