PSC: Alumni

The PSC award is a fantastic (free!) professional development opportunity for recent graduates to strengthen a range of employability skills.

Perhaps you didn't get a chance to complete the Professional Skills Curriculum whilst you were a student? Perhaps you're still looking for your dream graduate job? This is a perfect time to work on your professional development award. So, if you are part of this year's graduating class, you are eligible to apply for a place on PSC: Alumni.

What does earning the award involve?

PSC: Alumni involves you working through 6 steps at your own pace.

Step 1: Apply for a place on the programme. After acceptance, log into the PSC: Alumni programme page.

Step 2: Complete an online DiSC workplace preferences profile, and receive a personalised report. The recommended retail price of £60 per report is met by CEED.

Step 3: Review what graduate skills you'd like to develop and select 8 from a list of 11 options to work on

Step 4: Work through your chosen 8 online workshops

Step 5: Write a short reflective essay detailing how the programme has helped you develop

Step 6: Be paired with your very own coach to help you work towards your employability goals. You can have up to 6 virtual meetings with your coach, and the cost of this is met by CEED.

What will I gain?

If you are accepted onto the programme you will gain:

  • Increased self-awareness through completing a DiSC profile and writing a reflective essay.
  • Knowledge on how best to adapt your behaviour in the workplace.
  • Advice on how best to articulate your graduate skills in the job application process.
  • Knowledge in each of the 8 skill topics you choose to study.
  • Help with setting achievable goals for what comes next, via your personal coach.
  • Increased confidence in finding your dream graduate job.

How much does it cost?

There is no financial cost to you to take part in PSC: Alumni. All costs are met by CEED.

You will, however, need to invest time and effort in completing the programme elements within a 6-month time-frame.

How long does it take?

You work through the programme at your own pace, but you must complete it within 6 months of your graduation date.

As a guide, be prepared to invest between 20-30 hours to complete the programme, which includes completing and anaylsing your DiSC report, undertaking 8 online workshops, writing a reflective essay, and receiving up to 6 coaching sessions.

How can I apply?

To apply send a written application to profskills@st-andrews.ac.uk

Places are subject to availiability. In your application (max 500 words) please outline why you think you would benefit from the programme, and what your career aspirations are.
