Family problems

It can often feel difficult to be confronted by problems in the family when you are living at University, away from your family and home. All sorts of issues and problems can arise which may seem challenging or upsetting. These can include:

  • differences in beliefs, points of view or opinions between yourself and others
  • a family member is seriously ill
  • your parents decide to separate or get divorced

There are many things you can do which will help deal with these difficulties.

You are welcome to come to Student Services to talk to one of our Advisers or Counsellors, perhaps just for some initial advice or if you feel you want to take things further. You can drop in to make an appointment either at The ASC (The Advice and Support Centre) at 79 North Street, or our offices at Eden Court on The Scores. Alternatively, you can:

Phone: +44 (0)1334 46 2020
Email: theasc@st-andrews.ac.uk
