Dr Robina Boehnke
Clinical Psychologist
Robina is a part time counsellor with Student Services, having joined us in 2017. She is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist and received her Psychology Diploma, Doctorate and counselling training in Germany before immigrating to the UK in 2013. She is therefore able to offer counselling appointments in both English and German. Her doctoral research focussed on the stress system and she is particularly interested in stress management and the effects of stress on mental health.
Robina has a pragmatic solution-focussed approach, utilising and integrating tools and techniques from across different therapeutic models. She mainly works with tools from solution-focussed brief therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), as well as mindfulness-based approaches such as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
Building and maintaining a strong collaborative working relationship is at the core of all of her therapeutic work. She encourages students to set their own goals and provides tools and techniques for students to reach them. She tailors her approach to each student according to their strengths, preferences and desired outcomes and encourages students to take ownership of the process.
Robina is accredited with both the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
